Medicare Local Health Professional Support

Our Medicare Local Support Team (MLS Team) can help local health professionals access the Medicare Local's services, as well as assist health professionals to enhance their service delivery.

 

Accreditation Support

The MLS Team are available to assist you with registering, preparing and maintaining your General Practice accreditation. Assistance is tailored to suit your individual needs and ranges from assistance with patient surveys, policy and procedure review and mock accreditation visits including providing recommendations for improvement.

Immunisation

On behalf of all General Practices in the CNWQML region, the MLS Team facilitate a monthly Birthday reminder system for all children aged 12 months, 18 months and 4 years of age.

The MLS Team are also available to assist your General Practice with Cold Chain Management resources.

Quality Data Program

General Practice’s have invested money, time and effort into patient software management system. Using simple and effective tips for data management, the MLS Team can assist you to improve patient outcomes and practice efficiency by reducing wasted time for your staff. This can in turn satisfy requirements for RACGP Standards for General Practices 4th Edition.

As part of the program, General Practices receive a complimentary licence for Pen CAT and onsite support to assist with meeting recommendations provided from the monthly reports.

National Health Service Directory (NHSD)

The NHSD  is a consolidated and comprehensive national directory of health services and provider information. As part of their support to you, the MLS Team maintains this directory for all Health Services in the CNWQML region. Can’t find your business? Speak with your Medicare Local Support Officer.

Training and Education

The MLS Team are here to support newly arrived and existing Health Professionals within the Central and North West Medicare Local region to assist with continuing professional development (locally where appropriate) activities for GP's and Health Professionals in the Primary Healthcare sector. Our Events Calendar is regularly updated with training, education and social events.

New Health Professional Orientation

Are you new Health Professional to the CNWQML region? CNWQML is committed to the effective orientation of new and visiting external Health Professionals to the CNWQML region in order to provide health service network access with health colleagues, community organisations and clients; support quality service delivery; and promote service utilisation and business development.

After Hours General Practice Reporting

Under the After Hours agreement, CNWQML agrees to provide incentive payments to eligible General Practices providing services during the After Hours period. As part of this agreement, General Practices agree to provide CNWQML with SWPE data and de-identified service data from practice management systems each quarter.

Registered Nurse/Credentialed Mental Health Nurse/Endorsed Enrolled Nurse - Mount Isa

headspace, the National Youth Mental Health Foundation, opened a new centre in Mount Isa in December 2014. The purpose of this position is to provide clinical services and support within your scope of practice.  This will include collaborating with GPs to provide general health screening and follow up, mental health assessment, care coordination and ongoing support to 12-25 year olds within your scope of practice.
